Hello,
This is my first post, but I've reading posts for 3 years now. We just adopted our son, and at 3 days old he is having excessive gas.I am on day 20 of the accelerated protocal, using a friend's donated milk. My friend's son is having extreme difficulty with gas/colic symptoms as well, so I'm thinking it may be her milk. Does anyone think I should go ahead and drop the Yasmin now and bring in my own milk or switch back to formula and finish 10 more days? He was on formula the first 2 days in the hospital, fed to him through my SNS. He cried from 9pm to 1:45am straight with audible tummy gurgles, gas and burps. Thanks for your advice! This site has been life changing.

I wouldn't stop the protocol yet. Ask your friend to cut back on dairy and known gassy items like nuts and broccoli. See if that helps. You can use hylands gas tablets, gripe water or mylicon to help him. Ask your doctor

Ok, another rough night last night, this time after being on formula all day, so I don't know that it's milk related. Has anyone had gas problems with their newborn using the SNS? I think he might be swallowing too much air while feeding?? The breastfeeding pattern I'm used to is 2-3 sucks before a swallow, and baby is doing, suck swallow, suck swallow...I have him on the smallest tubing, with the supplementer below his chin. Any other suggestion would be appreciated! His only fussy times are at night. He is fine all day long. Thanks in advance.

It does sound like he maybe gulping and getting air. You can always get a lact-aid it isn't free flow so they aren't gulping
