Hi all! It is my second day on the message boards and I am so excited! After 7 years of heartache with infertility, 14 IVFs, one miscarriage at 23 weeks etc, we are FINALLY expecting a very cute baby girl [saw the 3D scan so I know] at the end of April. I have been reading your mails for a while. I started the protocol back in December [until then I could not believe that it would be happening for us]!!! I stopped the contraceptive pills yesterday and started the herbs and pumping. I got a drop of milk on the second pumping and a little bit this morning. It sounds good to me, is it? How soon does one expect milk after pumping starts? And is this a possibly good indication of volume or is this irrelevant???

I was on the protocol for 8 months while we were waiting. We had no notice so I started pumping the day we were placed with our daughter. I got drops the first time I pumped. By two days after I started pumping I was getting a teaspoon full. Within a week I was pumping about an ounce at each session. I started nursing every time at one week and I think she was getting 75% of her milk from me (she was tiny though - less than 6lbs so she didn't drink a ton). I was EBF by two weeks and would say I was making between 1 1/2 - 2 oz each time I fed - eight times a day.
She is 2 1/2 months now and I make between 2 1/2 and 3 1/2oz each session during the day and 4-7 oz at night. Hope that helps.
Jennifer
