Hi wondering if anyone has PCOS and done the accelerated protocol. Our birth mom is due early Dec and I started Ocela (generic for Yasmin) 3 weeks ago as well as dom 20mg 4times a day. I stopped my metformin when I started the protocol since it is for my insulin resistance and when I am not on it i just gain tons of weight and have a foggy head. So I thought less drugs in my system better for the adoptive breastfeeding. Although I have already put on 13 pounds in these 3 weeks. Thinking I should go back on the metformin but not sure if it will hinder the chance at adoptive nursing. We have been trying 6 years for a baby ( I have been on the metformin for about 5 years)and I want to atleast experience breastfeeding since I can't experience pregnancy past 8 weeks or birth...Any suggestions

Can you run or power walk 30 min a day? That would help weight, plus the endorphins would de stress and clear your head. Truly you will feel like a new person!
Start out telling yourself... I will just do this for 10 min and see where it goes from there.

Metformin is pretty important. For what it's worth, I get about 3 ounces a day. I'm 7 weeks in and on Metformin, but I'm pretty lazy about pumping and could probably get more. I don't think the Metformin has done anything to lessen my supply.

To tobin's.... Thanks. So you can take both together, that is good to know. Which protocol did you do?? I hope to start pumping Nov 13 (til then it will be extremely hard since I will be flying to my hometown and back...some people already think I am weird for breastfeeding an adopted child...so bringing a pump with me and pumping will be too hard)

If Lenore doesn't get back to you, let me know and I can post Dr. Newman's e-mail. Last time someone e-mailed her they didn't hear back.

I was on metformin while I was pumping. I was getting 6 oz a day at 4 months of pumping. Metformin actually can help increase breast milk.

I gained a ton of weight on the protocol, but it was from the yasmin, because once I stopped the bc I lost 20 lbs!!

I've tried emailing Lenore a few times in the past 3 years for various things that I couldn't find on these boards or online, but she never responds. Jack Newman has always reponded and VERY quickly. I'd ask him if you still have questions.

Lenore, is a very busy lady but I have heard back from her twice this week, so she is around.
