Hi Lisa,
Congratulations on your wonderful breastfeeding experience!!
Well we loved the Diane too but unfortunately it's been linked with a higher than average incident of deep vein thrombosis so we can no longer recommend it. The company has been in touch with us and assures us that it's actually ok, that more studies have been done...but we're still not comfortable recommending it.
Unfortunately as well, breakthrough bleeding is quite common on the protocols....I bled all the way through the protocols both times that I did it but also when I stopped the bcp and started pumping, the bleeding stopped. The first time around I didn't see AF for a year, and this second time around I haven't seen AF since September.
I understand it's difficult and your husband is a darling for supporting you...but try to hang in there without going off the Yasmin. It's really well worth the effort in the long run.
Fondly,
Lenore Goldfarb, Ph.D.,CCC,IBCLC Wife to Rob, Mom to Adam aged 13, and Ethan aged 9, both born via GS and breastfed via Regular Newman-Goldfarb Protocol.
