Hello:
I'm happy to say that at 2 weeks, I'm pumping 2 ounces for the day. Yay! I'm hoping to continue the increase and not to reach a plateau just yet.

I have some questions about pump horn size. I am still noticing some dribble of milk down the horn instead of going into the chamber. A symptom of pump horn size being too small.

The rim of the chamber fits right at the edge of my areola and my nipple does fit inside the chamber. Is the rim of the chamber supposed to be at the skin, past the areola? How would I measure if I need the 24, 27 or 30mm horn?

Thanks for your help.
I totally appreciate it!

LD I had the same problem as you. Just lean forward every now and then while pumping (horns still on breasts) and let the milk run down into the chamber. That way none of it is wasted.

LD, Not that I have personal experience yet, But I am a 42DD with the breast changes from the DOM and my sister has given me all her residual breastfeeding supplies. She gave me a set of horns for the PIS that are supple material rather than the hard plastic, and she indicated that pumping for her two bio. breastfed children, seemed more comfortable and even a stronger "let down" when using the supple horns, Again I have not had the personal experience yet, but believe me I'll try anything. Much luck your pumping thus far seems great to me. Keep up the hard work.

Those supple horns sound wonderful. I had the avent soft petal attachments that I would put on my medela horns. But the ones you describe sound better. I wonder where you get them. I also had very large breasts when doing the protocol and after my last son was born. I have very large areola and I didn't ever size up with the horns.

Great point! I completely forgot about the soft horns ... I have the new manual single pump and it came with one and it is much moe comfortable. As for getting more, I don't know. As for size, LD, there is actually a sizing device that most LC's have .... it's a flat card with holes that they hold up to the areola to measure your size. Any Medela supplier in your area should have this on hand, I should think.
