Hi all,
I'm inducing lactation to help a friend with a preemie. He's fine, but I thought my milk would be in by now (nursed four babies earlier, but this is "adoptive"). I will only have the pump, since the mommy is keeping her baby.

What is a realistic timeline?
I'm double pump/electric x 6/day for 12 min.
Been on Reglan for three weeks, today switched to DOM.

Thanks!

Well, it seems to vary widely....I have been pumping with a lactina for 6 weeks and only getting 1.25 ounces a day. I have brfed 2 bio kids before and am religious about my pumping and med schedule. I was on the dom and bcp for 7 months before starting pumping. I know someone else on the other end. After about 5-6 weeks of pumping she was making 28 ounces a day. No prior brfdg experience....melanie

Wow,

now I am discouraged! 28 oz a day. sigh.
I was just feeling a bit down about my supply, which seems to be about an 1 oz a feeding. It is hard to tell though since when I pump I get less than that, but Audrey will stay on the breast for a good 30 minutes, which means I must have something still coming out.

I do have a question though. Anyone out there who has milk who has not experianced 'the stream' instead of drops?

Trying to keep positive.

Linda
