I have been on the accelerated protocal, took 63 Pills and the domperidone. I was unable to pump for the first day 1/2 after my last pill, but the first time I did pump I was able to get a drop from one breast! <img src="http://www.asklenore.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/shocked.gif" alt="" /> I was amazed, since I thought it would take at least days to get started. That was on Friday, I am getting more out of both breasts now, but still not enough to store. I am continuing the domperidone, taking herbs and drinking water to thirst.

My question is how long should I pump? I am currently pumping for 10 minutes every 2-3 hours. Is this long enough or should I continue to pump until I can't get anymore milk out? Is there anything more that I can do? (Except eat oatmeal?) <img src="http://www.asklenore.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" /> Our facilitator told us that it will probably be a month before we can go back for our baby, but she is new and hasn't been working on our case, (plus I really don't want to wait that long!)

Thanks for all your help along the way. This has been such a warm and supportive group!

Hugs,
Melissa B

Melissa,
I don't know if you would be willing to pump for 30 minutes. I do. I get a second letdown at the 15 to 20 minute mark. And you really need to make sure your pumping atleast every 2 hours and once during the night. If your going to be pumping for 30 minutes a pumping I would go 2 1/2 hours but no longer than that between pumpings.

Nona,

Thanks for the info! I will try pumping for 30 minutes. I do think I need inserts for my breastshields. Yes, I am one of those small breasted women who have difficulty filling a stuffed bra. <img src="http://www.asklenore.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" /> Right now I have to hold the bottles in place, so I am hoping to figure something out so I can do something with my hands while I am pumping. This will be even more important if I am sitting there for 30 minutes. I at least need to be able to drink my water.

Thanks for your advice in the other posting about adjusting the speed of the pump. I've been using the lowest setting and medium suction, so I will turn up the speed.

Have a great week!
Melissa B

http://www.easyexpressionproducts.com/retail.html Go to this site. They have great hands free pumping bras. Your little breasted so I think you will really like them. Medela has them but you have to use contraptions with rubber bands with them and very uncomfortable to say the least. These you don't. If you decide to order one. I would suggest a small tight one. That way it will hold the horns in place. I like to double pump as I am surfing the net.. It sure makes it go by fast. So check out the bras .. they are pretty nifty <img src="http://www.asklenore.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" />

Hi Nona~

Thanks for the website. I have purchased two halters! Hopefully they will be here soon and I can start being more productive. 30 minutes is a long time to sit idle when I have so much to do right now! <img src="http://www.asklenore.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

Next question, do your breasts stay this tender???? They are so tender, sometimes it feels they are bruised. Or will I just get used to it?

Thanks for all your insight!

Melissa, way to go!!! I too did the accelerated protocol, but without the B/C pill. I just started the Dom. After 40 days I've just started pumping, but I'm only getting dropletts that don't even pool together enough to drop into the collection cup.
I'm going to have to start the herbs. It's been tough all the way around since DH thinks this is a "bad idea" so I've done everything without his support. I'll try to pump longer, but I'm doing it in the bathroom at work during my break, so I don't know how I'll work that in. CONGRATULATIONS to you, hopefully we can keep each other motivated.

Sarah,
If you did not use the BCPs then you did not do the protocol. You just chose Domperidone and pumping... <img src="http://www.asklenore.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" />

Melissa,
If you mean your breast being sore. .yes that will go away as the estrogen leaves your body. If your talking your nipples.. Then you might check and see what your setting is on your pump. You do NOT want to go past medium suction. Actually start out on the lowest setting and work your way up to medium.. Some lasholin will help to..
