First, I have to apologize for cross-posting this question if you're on any of the other boards. I just want to get several "expert" opinions to be sure that I'm doing this right.

I'm on the menopause protocol for inducing lactation (~ 4.5 months), and scheduled to stop the Yasmin BCP this Thursday to begin pumping for baby boy due Aug 26th. How soon after I take the last BCP do I begin my first pumping session?

Thanks!

I believe you start that day (I did) but maybe one of the LC's will give you a better answer... chances are you won't be able to contain your curiosity anyway

You start the day after you take your last pill. You might get something right away. But if you don't its okay. It takes 5-7 to get the bcp out of your system. I didn't get my first drop for 7 days.

Thanks ladies, for your help. I started pumping the next day after I took my last pill. I got one clear drop on one side the first day, the second day I got a clear drop on the other side and a milky white drop on the first side. I'm continuing to get little tiny drops during morning and evening pumpings (nothing in the afternoon) and I'm beginning day 6. Thanks again!

I am interested in Starting my milk supply with herbs only. I am adopting a child that will be approximately 4 months old when she comes home from Guatemala. I would like to nurse her some if possible. Does anyone have any experience with this method?

Hi,

Brining in a milk supply using herbs alone will require pumping for an extended period of time and there are no guarantees. The pump most of the moms on the induced lactation protocols use is the Medela Pump in Style Original double electric breast pump. You would want to start ASAP. The herbs are Fenugreek, Goats Rue, and Blessed thistle. Please discuss your intentions with your doctor.

Best,
